Kiss FM supremo Chris Philips applies the pressure in all departments and a stunning show this is. We've tried our best to give you most of this one to appreciate the sounds of Incognito, Marxsman, Prince, Flora Purim, Escoffries, even Ronnie Jordan with I.G. Culture. Nothing we can say will describe the diversity of Patrick's Cosmic Jam - possible the most listened too show of all time here at Vibe HQ... and boy do we have the cassettes to prove it! Jazz is treated with respect with upfront music from all walks of life. When the jazz drops, it drops heavy, the rest? Well, that as they say, is history. Patrick Forge fired up his last show on Kiss FM one year ago and shipped the Cosmic bus to Japan. So why did we pick this show from 1992? Because our very own Michael J Edwards picks up a prize... well, we had to have some sort of selection process - every show was solid. Andy Peebles’ Soul Train first hit the airwaves in 1987 drifting from Sunday to Saturday evenings but it’s in 1990 when the station became a 24hr service that we give you a 40min sample of his late night Friday offering. Yes, we’re on BBC Radio One and just two more years before his departure. We hear his ‘Quite Storm’ feature and his trademark soul competition. The music is mainstream but the presentation is unflawed, a distinctive voice for radio in the UK. Now, nearly twenty years on you can still find him and his Soul Train on the Smooth Radio network– now that’s what we call dedication.
